The DPI (dots per inch) of your design depends on two things:
β
1. The pixel dimensions of your design
β2. The physical print size you want
Most high-quality prints use 300 DPI for sharp detail.
π How to calculate your print size
Use this formula:
Print size (in inches) = Pixel dimensions Γ· DPI
πΌ Example
β
If you generate a 1024 x 1024 image and upscale it 4x to 4096 x 4096 pixels using Playground, here's the math:
4096 Γ· 300 DPI = 13.65 inches
So you can print it at 13.65" x 13.65" at 300 DPI
π Quick reference
Image Size | Max Print Size @ 300 DPI |
1024 x 1024 | ~3.4" x 3.4" |
1536 x 1024 | ~5.12" x 3.4" |
4096 x 4096 | ~13.65" x 13.65" |
6144 x 4096 | ~20.48" x 13.65" |
